Try God.
I was so angry at God that my Son died. Then, I felt if only I had prayed harder, been better, etc…
Then I went to Emmaus at two years out. Which is a weekend retreat sponsored by someone that has been on the weekend before. Emmaus is a program of the Methodist Church, but the retreats are non-denominational, with the purpose of strengthening Christians to go back to their own Church with renewed vigor.
However, what it gave me, and gives others on every weekend, is a small glimpse and feel of God’s love for his people and the love that should be in every Christian community.
I accepted Jesus as my savior in the person of the Trinity of God when I was 17, but as every Christian knows – it is a journey.
I could talk about God all night but I won’t. I just had to share that if you truly search for God, he will meet you halfway. He can be a great comfort if you let him. And if you let him, he will help you to be happy in all circumstances.
After my son died, I hated it when people said that God won’t give you more than you can handle. But I guess they were right after all, not that you want to survive it, but you can.
